Bader Ben Hirsi
Award-winning director Bader Ben Hirsi's experience in directing includes Theatre
where he directed nine successful productions for Blue Harlequin
Theatre Company including successful productions in London and
Edinburgh Festivals. He has worked for a number of years in television
as a director/producer and has written numerous plays and screenplays
including ‘A Brief Affair’, ‘Claptrap’,
‘On The Side of the Angels’, ‘Beloved in Vain’
and the soon to be filmed feature film ‘Silver-Studded Blue’.
He has worked on numerous television projects for Carlton, Network
First, Yorkshire Television, Partridge Films, M.B.C (Middle East
Broadcasting Company), O.R Media, Infinite Productions and Uxoomi
Entertainment. Bader Ben Hirsi’s latest work as Director/Producer
includes the award-winning feature documentary, which is under-going
a two-year festival tour that began in February 2000. Screenings
of his latest production ‘The English Sheikh and The Yemeni
Gentleman’ have taken place in Seattle, New York, London,
Paris and Rome where, at the exclusive (invitation only) Paolo
Pasolini Foundation, his film was rescheduled for three extra
screenings due to popular demand. Tour screenings include the
DAVO congress in Germany, The Carthage Film Festival, Amsterdam
and an extensive institutional/university tour of North America
including Harvard, Princeton, Berkeley, Colombia, Georgetown,
MESA and the U.N. Bader Ben Hirsi’s work, both as a writer
and director has generated critical acclaim and he has been labelled
‘ a writer too bleak and too brilliant to be missed’
by London’s popular ‘What’s On’ guide.
His ability to captivate the audience from start to finish is
overwhelming with a wealth of excellent reviews. Qualifications
include studies in Drama, Production, Screenwriting, Playwriting
and Directing; with an M.A in ‘Drama Production’ from
Goldsmith’s College, London University, a drama certificate
from Central School of Speech & Drama and a Producer’s
Diploma from the Hollywood Film Institute.
Ahmed Abdali
Ahmed Abdali is the producer of such film projects as ‘Inside
Out’ (Winner of the Houston Film Festival 2004 for best
short, winner of the “People’s Choice” award
at the Malaysian Film Festival 2004, special mention at the Malmo
Film Festival), ‘Shadow Senses’ and ‘Wishing
Well’. In addition to also producing a number of TV documentaries
and series such as “Socotra; Dragon’s Blood Island”
about the little known archipelago in the Indian Ocean, Ahmed
has also worked with numerous companies such as Channel 4, MBC
(Middle East Broadcasting Channel), LAPTV (Latin American Pay
Television), Metafilmics (What Dreams May Come) and Disney Ideas
(Road To Janabad). Ahmed’s primary education is in music
having schooled in sound and studio engineering during the mid
1980’s in London at the Bon Marche Academy for Sound Engineering.
He has an incredible ability to create music for all genres. His
music projects include the Hollywood feature animation ‘Road
To Janabad’ directed by the Oscar winner Eugenio Zanetti
and the award winning documentary ‘The English Sheikh &
The Yemeni Gentleman’ in which one critic wrote of the soundtrack
as “hauntingly beautiful”. He has composed music for
corporate projects such the signature tune for the “Le Royale”
chain of international hotels and composed the soundtracks various
projects including “The Quantum Project” which was
the first ever film produced for the internet. He has also written
numerous scripts and screenplays including “Knightsafe”
and “Inside Out”. He is currently producing Yemen’s
first feature film entitled “A New Day in Old Sana’a”
which premier at the Cannes International Film Festival.
